Reviews:
The Samyang XP Series consists of ultra-high quality, premium manual focus lenses designed for super high resolution shooting!
The 14mm lens is a wide angle lens ideal for breathtaking landscape & dramatic environmental portraits. The superior optical design of using 18 elements, including a hybrid aspherical element, two extra low dispersion lenses, two aspherical lenses & three High Refractive Index elements, increases image clarity & sharpness, simultaneously reducing spherical distortion & chromatic aberrations. The Ultra Multi Coating is designed to combat ghosting & flare for better contrast & colour fidelity, which makes this lens ideal for working with strong light, such as sunsets or backlit portraits.
Samyang XP lens allow for beautiful bokeh, with a 9 bladed circular diaphragm for an extremely smooth, appealing artistic flair. If you’re after controlled depth of field focus shots, the extremely fast maximum aperture of f/2.4 also performs strongly in low light environments. The manual focus design allows for precise focus control, with a built in AE chip ensuring your focus point is razor sharp. This is all housed in an aluminium-alloy construction, both for lightweight comfort & durable, long lasting performance.
The Samyang XP 14mm F2.4 lens features unmatched resolving power for ultra-high quality images. Its rich pixel information is reflected in the pictures and allows plenty of room for creativity in post-processing. Samyang opens up a whole new world in Melbourne
By: jack beltaneFrom shooting clouds, to wide open city vista photos the Samyang 14mm XP F2.4 is outstanding to use and very simple to use. Daytime i used TV mode 1/400 second, focus infinity and took a 30 minute walk through the city of Melbourne, every photo came out sharp and in focus with no need for editing. Night time hand held i varied from 1/200 under street lights to 1/60 shutter speed for the darker alley ways. ISO sat at 3200 in the dark and 1600 in the street lights, all photos came out sharp, in focus and shot in raw so i could manipulate the street art i was shooting using Lightroom classic. Video hand held outside the main train station and in the main street art back alley both came out stable and sharp. The video shows a good feature of the 14mm lens, as people walk towards the camera the video gives the viewers the impression someone is about to walk into you, when in reality they are a good 3 or 4 metres in front of the lens. Another nice street photography feature is standing at a traffic light shooting the opposite side of the road and the people next to you will think that is what your shooting, but due to the 114 degrees on the lens, the people standing to your right and left will also be caught unaware in the image, that also applies if you are shooting at night with light behind you, your shadow will appear large at the bottom of the image. Photos are on Melbournepixs Instagram and Facebook, https://youtu.be/L2FTkmeFEwE is the video link for the Street art alley.
